Camena de Angelus (Songs of Angels) consists of classical sacred arias and art songs, sung by Soprano Erin Lilley. The album was a labor of love for the singer, who is currently the Vocal Artist in Residence for the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile, Alabama.
A sacred album seemed a perfect fit for the child of two Sunday School teachers. Ms. Lilley has spent the last decade performing for the Catholic Church, not only for Masses, but also special services, concerts, and recitals. She conceived this album as a faith journey, beginning with joy, moving through sorrow and fear, then reborn to joy with renewed trust in the Lord.
All tracks were recorded in and around the Cathedral, with minimal engineering to retain the sound one would hear at a live performance inside the Church. Tracks include such favorites as the Schubert and Bach/Gounoud versions of Ave Maria, Durante's Vergin Tutt'Amor, and Faure's "Pie Jesu" from Requiem.
The album is available on Amazon and at the Cathedral Gift Shop, where it sold out in its first printing. Early reviews described Ms. Lilley's voice as "silvery and shimmering" and "phenomenal".
